Maximizing the Benefits of Drinking Water

March 15, 2016 in Our News & Bulletins by Primary Spine & Rehab

Getting enough water every day is important for your health. Water helps your body keep your temperature normal, lubricate and cushion joints, protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues and get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.

In addition, drinking water at the correct time(s) throughout the day maximizes its effectiveness on the human body. Here are some optimal times to drink water and the benefits it provides.

  • 2 glasses of water after waking up helps to activate internal organs
  • 1 glass of water before a meal aids in digestion
  • 1 glass of water before taking a bath or shower lowers blood pressure
  • 1 glass of water before going to bed lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes

So the next time you are thirsty, reach for that refreshing, tall glass of water.
